What inspired you to start your journey as a fashion influencer?
Nupur: During my college days, I started developing this interest in dressing up. I used to draw inspirations from the OG Indian fashion creators. The more I watched them build a career out of their passion for fashion, the more eager I became to do the same. I took my time to understand this industry and business. Switched jobs to earn more and save more to ultimately invest it all in my dream and here we are 3 years later, interviewing with Imperium. This journey has been the most fulfilling things to happen to me.
Can you share a memorable moment or milestone from your influencer journey that you’re really proud of?
Nupur: This has been the most challenging and fulfilling thing I have done in my life. The biggest milestone was when Meta invited and recognized me as a creator. When the recognition is from the platform itself, it feels huge. Apart from that, I love watching sunsets sitting in my studio. Sunsets make me all philosophical and emotional. I often find myself just feeling this sense of gratefulness and accomplishment to have set up my own studio cum office set up. Never in my wildest dreams, I thought I would be an entrepreneur one day. To be able to sit in my own studio, witnessing the beauty of what I have built in these three years have to be the moments I feel immensely proud of myself.
Nupur, we noticed a lot of fall trend content on your Instagram page. Is that your niche, or did you stumble upon it naturally?
Nupur: My audience and me both love being up to date with what is new in the world of fashion. And I try my best to deliver the best content in terms of what is new and where to buy from. So it’s precisely my niche to keep up with the times in terms of fashion.
What are three things you keep in mind when styling outfits?
Nupur: Well, it depends. When making content, I keep my audience in mind. I make sure the pieces are affordable, looks are practical and wearable. I always keep in mind the average Indian girl and the society, mindset overall to make sure my girls are feeling themselves in their fits. For events or personal styling, I would always keep comfort first. I am big on including trendy pieces, so that would always be in my mind when putting together a fit. Third would definitely be the occasion, theme and requirement of the event and place. While I am an advocate of you do you but I believe dressing according to the occasion really makes you feel like a part of it.
Could you name some fashion models and influencers who inspire you?
Nupur: This would be an unending list but I had to choose one creator, it would be Krutika Khurana aka thatbohogirl. I am in awe of her styling and how her looks are so fun, unique while being wearable as well. She is an industry OG and her consistency to create content for her audience inspires me so much.
If you could create your own personal style look, what would you name it, and what would it comprise?
Nupur: When it comes to personal style, I am a combination of old money aesthetics and basics. Coming from a Rajput family, I have always been inclined towards elegant and royal looks. I might as well call my style something around ‘modern rani core’ but without any palace to her name, sad life, right?
Here is a fit I wore recently to an event.
Do you like art prints on clothes? If yes, kindly recommend some Nupur Favourites, and if no, please explain why not.
Nupur: I love art prints. They add so much uniqueness and make the entire fit look so edgy. Here are two dresses from my wish list.
What are your views on Y2K making a comeback in 2023?
Nupur: Y2K is making a comeback. Baby tees, cargo pants paired with sneakers & claw clips are my go-to outfit choice any day. I am so excited to go a step further and play with headbands as well. Here are few easy and affordable fits you could try.
In how many ways can you style an off-the-shoulder top?
Nupur: Off shoulder tops are so versatile. First look that I am dying to recreate this fall, would be the one with a maxi denim skirt for uber cool and cute look.
Off shoulder tops with volume sleeves paired with relaxed denims would look so chic. Gigi Hadid stepped out in a similar look recently and I am obsessed with how good it looks.
Off shoulder tops have a hint of sexy to them and would make a great choice for date nights. Pairing them with satin maxi skirts and a minimal scarf would make such a romantic fit, I am drooling thinking about it.
I am a sucker of off duty model looks and I can see myself wearing a well-tailored off shoulder top with wide legged denims for this chic and easy look.
Should metallic footwear be on our Fall Trends watchlist?
Nupur: Oh absolutely! Metallic footwear was spotted on possibly ever fashion runway and for the right reasons. I am into ballet flats currently and metallic ballet flats top my shopping list. With the overall muted colour palette of this season, these add a hint of glamour and sheen so effortlessly.
Do you think bows are timeless or cringe?
Nupur: Bows are the cutest things ever! They are timeless and make the look so feminine and fun. Bow detailing in tops or dresses are a great way to incorporate them in your fits. Also, the way they elevate the look when used as hair accessories. In fact, I found this affordable white dress recently which has a bow tie up detailing at the back and to make things even better, I added a bow hair clip to the fit. You need to check it out!
How would you style fall outfits for a working girl?
Nupur: We want our workwear to be comfortable so opting for elevated basics is a great idea. Tailored, well-structured trousers paired with turtle necks, voluminous blouses, crisp shirt and even waistcoats for that matter. For inspiration, you could give this reel a watch where I have style a pair of black trousers for office from Monday to Friday.
As we dive into sweater weather, please provide us with some sweater recommendations and suggest what we can pair sweaters with.
Nupur: Here are three looks I am obsessing over currently. First is this beautiful knitted jumper which you can pair with a mini skirt and loafers for a very young & fun look.
